From my half assed knowledge of the functioning of the Internet, it is basically computers (servers included) connected to a huge LAN cable. What the ISP does is provide the wire to connect your device with the huge cable. What would I be needing in order to connect to the "cable" without an ISP and what would be an estimated cost of the materials?
